A user-editable Boom Lift plug-in for Vectorworks which has options for size, arms, configurations, and colors. The film/TV version adds numerous standard mounting options for lighting and grip:
Candlesticks (1-3)
Front Outrigged Pipe (up to 21’)
Middle Basket Pipe (up to 21’)
Top Basket Pipe (up to 21’)
Side Basket Pipes (to to 21’)
Overhead Pipes (1-3 pipes, up to 21’ in length)
Trusses (square, triangle, or flat; 12”, 16”, 20.5”, up to 20’ long)
Flyswatters of various sizes and generic materials, with custom texture option available
Hung goods of various sizes and generic materials, with custom texture option available
Ability to add a custom symbol to the basket
Most of the rigging selections have options for size and spacing. There is an option for silver or black finish. Pipes and trusses include chord snapping (although fixtures will not move with the boom) and reference locus points for spacing. Chord snapping works only in 2026 and later.
The plug-in is hybrid 2D and 3D. The 2D portion is drawn with 2D shapes, not just a top-view of 3D geometry.
The Boom Lift Film/TV version comes with a free version of the Boom Lift plug-in.
The Boom Lift Film/TV plug-in was written in Vectorworks 2021 and should work in any version after that. A 2024 version, which has updated icons for light/dark modes, is also included and should work in 2024 and later.
